what if there was a door that you couldn't lock
you could close the door and turn the latch,
but the door could still be opened.
what if the lock on the door didn't work
as if it were solely there for decoration
for false hope
you knew the lock wouldn't work
but you still closed the door as hard as you could
and turned the latch, hoping
hoping that it might save you from whatever
or whoever
is on the other side
